Traditional elders in Galkaayo decry attempts to grab land

Traditional elders in Galkaayo town have decried plans by well-connected individuals in the town to grab land in the town.
The elders said they are concerned that some people may be hell bent on grabbing the land.
They raised concerns that the ground is a target for many wealthy individuals who could now grab it in the name of development.
Elder Asad muse Ghele said that some well-respected were used to grab public land including that of their own by well-connected traders some of which were heading the administration.
Somalia is experiencing construction boom and land value has significantly shot up and investors locally and from abroad are struggling to get a piece leading to rise of speculators and land brokers.
