Traffic cop who assaulted disabled motorist in Mogadishu gets 3 years jail term

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: A traffic police officer who was captured on camera assaulting a disabled motorist has been sentenced to three years.

A military court in Mogadishu found Ahmed Mohamud Arab guilty of the offence and handed him the three years jail term. According to the prosecution, Arab was seen on CCTV assaulting the motorist who previously served in the military.

The court also sentenced two other police officers to two years for failing to share the CCTV footage of the incident with the Criminal Investigations Department of the Office of the Prosecutor.

The two-Ahmed Hassan Adawe and Abdullahi Abukar Arif were sentenced to two years each.
