Trump Demands “Unconditional Surrender” From Iran as White House Signals Weeks-Long Offensive
GOOBJOOG NEWS|WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that any potential agreement with Iran would require the country’s “unconditional surrender,” while the White House indicated that ongoing military operations could continue for several weeks.
In a message posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump ruled out negotiations with Tehran under current conditions, saying the only acceptable outcome would be total capitulation by Iran’s leadership.
“There will be no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER,” Trump wrote. He added that after such a surrender and the emergence of what he described as “a GREAT & ACCEPTABLE Leader(s),” the United States and its allies would work to rebuild Iran’s economy.
“After that… we, and many of our wonderful and very brave allies and partners, will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction, making it economically bigger, better, and stronger than ever before,” the president said.
The remarks come as U.S. officials describe an ongoing military campaign against Iranian forces. Speaking to reporters at the White House, press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the administration expects the offensive to continue for several weeks.
“We expect [the war] to last about four to six weeks, and we are well on our way to achieving those objectives, annihilating Iran’s navy,” Leavitt said.
Her comments suggested that U.S. military planners anticipate a relatively short but intense campaign aimed at weakening Iran’s maritime capabilities.
The statements mark a sharp escalation in rhetoric toward Tehran and signal that Washington is pursuing decisive military and political objectives in the confrontation.
It was not immediately clear how officials in Tehran would respond to Trump’s demand for unconditional surrender. Iran has historically rejected such ultimatums, framing external pressure as an attack on its sovereignty.
Analysts note that calls for unconditional surrender are rare in modern diplomacy and typically associated with wartime objectives intended to force a complete political transition in the targeted state.
The developments come amid heightened tensions in the region, with several U.S. allies monitoring the situation closely as military operations continue. Further details about the scale and scope of the campaign have not yet been publicly disclosed.
