Turkey condemns Sunday’s bomb blast in Mogadishu

Turkey which is Somalia’s main ally has condemned Sunday’s suicide attack in Mogadishu which claimed lives of soldiers and civilians.

The target was the country’s new armed forces chief; Mohamed Ahmed Jimaale who escaped the assassination less than an hour after he was sworn in.

Turkish Foreign Ministry condoled with the families of the victims, the Somali government and people and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

“We strongly condemn this heinous terrorist attack. We wish God’s mercy upon those who lost their lives in the attacks, convey our condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and wish speedy recovery to the wounded.” said the ministry in a statement on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile of the government of Qatar also strongly condemned the blast affirming its position on rejecting violence and terrorism regardless of motives or reasons.

In a statement Qatar condoled with the families of the victims, the Somali government and people and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

Al-Shabaab, the militant group operating in Somalia has claimed responsibility for the attack which killed over fifteen people.
