Turkey Hands over Equipment to Somalia’s Elite Police Unit
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Internal Security minister Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail on Wednesday received military equipment from Turkey’s ambassador to Somalia for the elite Harmacad Special Police Force, in a boost to the country’s counter-terrorism capabilities.
The equipment was handed over during a ceremony at the unit’s headquarters in Mogadishu, attended by Police Commissioner Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi and the Ministry’s Director General Yussuf Ali, among other officials.
The advanced equipment is expected to strengthen the unit’s operational effectiveness and complement recent specialised training undertaken by the force to improve its response to security threats.
Ministry officials expressed appreciation for Turkey’s continued support, describing the assistance as a key contribution to Somalia’s efforts to enhance national security and maintain stability.
