Turkish aid agency to send 15,000 tons of food and Medical to Somalia in Ramadan

Turkish Red Crescent aid organization is planning to deliver 15,000 tons of humanitarian aid to Somalia during the Holy month of Ramadan.

President of the Turkish Red Crescent aid organization, Kerem Kinik who spoke Anadolu Agency a ship loaded with the aid will be sent to Somalia soon.

The ship will be travelling from Mersin port within two days, according Kinik

“This aid will be sent to all the regions in Somalia. There is 1,000 trucks-loaded humanitarian aid in this ship,” Kinik said.

Kinik said the aid which includes flour, sugar, medicine and baby food, will be benefited three million people for the whole Ramadan month.

Turkish government has sent 11 aid ships to Somalia so far in a bid to avert drought the ravaged most parts of Somalia.

In April this year, a Turkish Airlines cargo plane carrying over 60 tons of food aid and medical supplies arrived in Somali’s capital Mogadishu as part of a global aid campaign by Turkey’s flagship carrier

In late February, Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo declared the drought in his country as a national disaster and urged the international community to help his people.
