Turkish Security Delegation Visits Somalia to Boost Cooperation

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: A senior Turkish government delegation arrived in Mogadishu on Tuesday as part of efforts to deepen security and bilateral cooperation between Turkey and Somalia.

The delegation was led by the commander of Turkey’s Special Forces, Ünsal Hayal, and included senior foreign affairs officials Gökhan Demirtola and Turgay Olgun, Turkish authorities said.

The officials were received at Aden Adde International Airport by senior officers of the Somali Police Force.

The visit focuses on strengthening cooperation in security and policing, as well as advancing broader bilateral ties between the two countries. The delegation is expected to hold meetings with senior members of the Federal Government of Somalia during its stay.

Turkey is a key ally of Somalia and has played a prominent role in security assistance, training and state-building efforts in the Horn of Africa nation.
