Turkish, Somali Presidents speak over phone

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: President Reccep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone  conversation with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia, on Sunday night, according to the Turkish Presidency.

The call addressed the Turkey-Somalia relations and regional matters.

President Erdoğan stressed that Turkey, as had always been the case, would continue to stand with the Somali people and support peace and stability in Somalia.

Turkey has for several years implemented substantial humanitarian programs in Somalia emphasizing three crucial sectors: education, health, and security.

The Federal Republic of Somalia for it’s part, hosts Turkey’s largest embassy and largest military academy overseas which has played a significant role in strengthening security cooperation and the fight against terrorism.
