Two Al-Shabaab Members Surrender in Bokool Region

GOOBJOOG NEWS | BOKOOL: Two members of the Al-Shabaab militant group have surrendered to National Security forces in Bokool region.   

According to the National Intelligence and Security Agency, the two militants, identified as Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed Nur (22) and Adan Isaaq Adan (21) have been members of the Al-Shabaab group for 5 years. 

The two, in their confession said they participated in several battles and operations carried out by the group and that they had decided to defect from the group and join efforts in rebuilding the nation.  

They added that they had decided to take advantage of the amnesty issued by President Hassan Sheik Mohamud to members of the militant group to quit and be rehabilitated before being reabsorbed into the community.  

Hundreds of members of the group have surrendered in various parts of South West as the National Forces conclude the first phase of the War on Al-Shabaab which has also seen several areas formerly under the militant’s control liberated.
