Two Killed, Scores Injured in Clan Clashes Over Water Well in Mudug Region

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MUDUG: Two people have been killed and scores of others injured in deadly clashes between two clans in Mudug region on the Puntland side.

According to security sources, the two sides exchanged heavy gunfire in Harfo district over a water well.

Members of one of the opposing clans are reported to destroyed and set ablaze a water well, resulting in a fierce fight.

The situation remains tense. There was no comment yet from the Puntland administration.

Fighting over water and pasture resources has been a perennial issue in parts of central Somalia, especially when droughts begin.
