Two Men Executed After Conviction for Al Shabaab-Related Crimes
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: A military court in Mogadishu on Tuesday carried out the execution of two men convicted of murder and links to the al Shabaab militant group, after legal procedures were completed, judicial authorities said.
The men, identified as Abdi Abdiqadir Mohamed, also known as Hussein, and Farhan Mahmoud Abdinur, known as Hassan, had been sentenced to death by a military court after being found guilty of serious criminal offences.
Court records said the two were responsible for the killing of four civilians in Mogadishu, attacks that authorities said threatened public security and targeted innocent residents.
Judicial officials said the enforcement of the sentences was carried out in accordance with Somalia’s laws and reflected the government’s commitment to accountability for crimes linked to militancy.
Somalia has stepped up security operations and prosecutions in recent years as it seeks to curb violence by al Shabaab and restore stability in the capital and other regions.
