Two more people have died in Baidoa after consuming contaminated water adding the number of those who have died in the last 72 hours to 32.
The director of Southwest state ministry for health, Isaak Mohamed Mursal said the two died at Masubiyo village which is located 20km outside Baidoa town.
Mursal said the ministry dispatched medical officers to the area to investigate the death of these residents.
“We sent doctors to collect samples from the areas and soon we are expecting to release full report on the cause of these deaths,” said Mursal.
On Monday, thirty people died and dozens hospitalized after drinking water fetched from same source.
Residents of the village had been complaining about water shortage after wells dried up as many parts of the country hit by severe drought.
Thousands of livestock perished and hundreds of families face food and water shortages following the rains failed.
Families trek several kilometers to get water as the reservoirs dried up.
