Two police officers injured in land mine explosion en route to Afgooye, south of Mogadishu
Two police officers have survived a land mine explosion along the main road connecting Mogadishu and Afgoye in the out skirts of Mogadishu.
The officers who were travelling along KM 13 were injured when their car hit an explosive device. They were immediately rushed to a hospital in Mogadishu.
A district official in Gerisballey, Abdirahman Garyare told Goobjoog News the device may have been remotely controlled. “The car hit a landmine which could have been aimed at it by unknown persons. Two officers have been injured and now receiving treatment in a Mogadishu hospital,” said Abdirahman.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack. The militant group Al-Shabaab has severally targeted Somali and AMISOM troops through landmine attacks rigged on roads.
