Two Senior Al-Shabaab Commanders Killed in Middle Shabelle Operation

GOOBJOOG NEWS | GUULANE: Two senior al Shabaab commanders have been killed in a targeted operation by local community-based forces in the Guulane area of Somalia’s Middle Shabelle region.

According to government officials, the slain militants, identified as Ali Xabad and Mohamed Adow, were reportedly high-ranking figures involved in coordinating attacks and insurgent activities in the area. Several other fighters were also killed during the assault.

The operation is part of an ongoing national effort to dismantle the militant group’s network in central Somalia, where local militias, often backed by federal and regional forces, have taken a lead role in the fight.

Guulane, located in a strategic corridor of Middle Shabelle, has been the site of multiple clashes in recent months as Somalia ramps up pressure on Al-Shabaab strongholds across the region.

A renewed offensive combining military, community-led, and international efforts has yielded notable territorial gains for the government.
