Two Somali nationals killed in S.Africa as anti-immigrant attacks continue

Storyline:National News

Two young Somali men were killed in South Africa Wednesday night bringing to ten Somali nationals who have been in the South African nation in recent weeks.

According to community leaders in Cape Town, the two men identified as Yusuf Mohamed Taakow and Mohamed Deeq Muhuddin were killed in their business premises in Phillipi area of Cape Town.

The leaders said the assailants also ransacked the business premises and carted away goods of unknown value. Reports indicate that eight Somali nationals were killed in the last three weeks in various parts of South Africa as xenophobic attacks continue there.

A BBC investigative story in September revealed that an anti-immigrant group movement was carrying out what it called Operation Dudula to rid South Africa of immigrants. The group blames immigrants, among them Somalis who are running businesses there for taking away opportunities for the local population.
