U.S Revokes Residency of Slain Iranian Military Commander Soleimani’s Relatives

GOOBJOOG NEWS|WASHINGTON: The United States government has revoked the lawful permanent resident (LPR) status of relatives of slain Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani, citing alleged support for Iran’s leadership and its military apparatus.
According to a statement released by the U.S. Department of State, Secretary of State Marco Rubio ordered the termination of residency status for Hamideh Soleimani Afshar—identified as Soleimani’s niece—and her daughter. Both individuals are currently in custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement pending further immigration proceedings.
U.S. authorities allege that Soleimani Afshar publicly expressed support for Iran’s government and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which Washington designates as a terrorist organization. The statement further claims she used social media platforms to disseminate pro-government messaging, including praise for attacks targeting U.S. military personnel and facilities in the Middle East.
Officials also announced that her husband has been barred from entering the United States.
In a related action earlier this month, the State Department confirmed the termination of legal status for Fatemeh Ardeshir-Larijani, daughter of senior Iranian political figure Ali Larijani, along with her husband Seyed Kalantar Motamedi. Both individuals have since left the United States and are prohibited from re-entry.
The moves underscore a broader policy stance by the administration of former President Donald Trump aimed at restricting entry or residency for foreign nationals accused of supporting governments or groups considered hostile to U.S. interests.
The State Department said the actions were carried out in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security, emphasizing what it described as ongoing efforts to safeguard national security.
