UAE Donates 700 Tons of Food Aid to Somalia

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The United Arab Emirates has donated 700 tons of food aid to Somalia to support vulnerable communities severely impacted by the ongoing drought.

The donation was delivered by UAE Ambassador to Somalia, Ahmed Juma Al-Rumaithi who handed them over to the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) which said it has already begun distributing the donation.

SoDMA Commissioner Mahmuud Moalim Abdulle said 300 tons have already been sent to Kismayo and 200 tons to Bosaso and that an additional 200 tons, intended for Banadir and other relief regions, has been securely stored in the Agency’s warehouses for efficient distribution.

Commissioner Abdulle expressed deep gratitude to the UAE government for its unwavering support to the Somali people during challenging times and highlighted SoDMA’s commitment to mitigating the effects of the drought and ensuring aid reaches those who need it most.

This donation reinforces the ongoing collaboration between Somalia and the UAE in addressing humanitarian needs and fostering resilience in vulnerable communities.
