GOOBJOOG NEWS | KAMPALA: The Ugandan government has said it has begun a probe into an attack on its forces early Friday in Buulo Mareer town.
According to the Ugandan People Defense Force (UPDF) spokesperson Felix Kulayigye, the attack was carried out by “foreign forces” and that a comprehensive statement will be issued after getting more details from the African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia headquarters.
“This morning, ATMIS FOB in Bulo Murer came under Al-Shabaab attack. ATMIS forces are currently assessing the security situation. More information will be issued later,” ATMIS twitted.
Reports indicate the attackers, suspected to be Al Shabaab militants, attempted to storm the base before a series of explosions rented the air.
