UK government announces scholarships for Somali Students
GOOBJOOG NEWS MOGADISHU: The United Kingdom has invited Somali students to apply for the Chevening Scholarships from September 12th to7th November.
British Ambassador to Somalia Mike Nithavrianakis said the scholarships are aimed at developing future leaders and influencers from around the world, and offer full financial support for one year of master’s degree at any UK university.
“The Scholarship demonstrates the UK’s commitment to investing in the leaders of the future. This is a great opportunity and I want to encourage as many Somalis as possible to compete for this life changing experience,” the Ambassador said.
He added that since 2016, more than 60 Somali scholars have benefitted from the Chevening Scholarship programme, many of whom are now working at senior levels in government, the private sector and international organizations.
