UN chief strongly condemns Al-Shabaab attack on Mogadishu Airport
GOOBJOOG NEWS/NEW YORK: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has issued a statement strongly condemning yesterday’s deadly attacks on Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport.
Antonio Guterres condoled with the families of the victims and wished speedy recovery to those injured, calling for the perpetrators of the despicable act to be brought to justice.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres pledged the United Nation’s support to the Somali government and its people in their fight against terrorism.
“The United Nations expresses full solidarity and support to the Government and people of Somalia in the fight against terrorism, and reaffirms its commitment to supporting peace and security in Somalia,” said the UN Secretary General.
Al-Shabaab, through its Andalus radio station, said it had a hand in yesterday’s attack, claiming to have killed several people including white foreigners, days after the US Africa Command called for precautions terming Al-Shabaab as “extremely dangerous”.
