UN condemns Sunday’s attack on marketplace in Mogadishu

United Nation has condemned the deadly car bomb at Kawa-goday market in Mogadishu that killed over twenty people and injured dozens more.

Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) in Somalia, Michael Keating described the incident as a brutal reminder of the retrograde tactics employed by Al-Shabaab.

“I condemn the terrorist attack in Mogadishu. Killing civilians is despicable and achieves nothing – except to remind Somalia of the indifference of extremists to human life and suffering” Keating said.

He commended the swift response of Somalia’s security forces and first responders.

Keating urged perpetrators to be brought to justice swiftly.

The car which blew up on Sunday Afternoon in the city’s southern Wadajir district had ripped through shops and food stalls.
