UN condemns today’s terrorist attack on Somalia’s parliament
GOOBJOOG NEWS/MOGADISHU: The United Nations has issued a statement condemning today’s terrorist attack in Mogadishu, which occured when Al-Shabaab fired mortar shells at parliament buildings as a joint session of the federal parliament was ongoing.
The United Nations wished a speedy recovery to all those who were injured in the cowardly terrorist attack, pledging it’s support to the Somali people in their efforts to wrap up the electoral process and progress on national priorities.
“The United Nations condemns today’s mortar attack on Somalia’s Parliament, which occurred while parliamentarians were meeting. It wishes a speedy recovery for the injured, and stands firm with Somalis in their efforts to complete the electoral process and progress on national priorities”, read the UN statement.
Seven people among them two guards attached to Wadajir party leader Abdirahman Abdishakur (MP) were injured in the mortar shell attacks, which Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility.
