GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Federal Government of Somalia has said it will work closely with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in facilitating the return of Somali refugees from Kenya and Yemen.

The agreement was discussed during a meeting between Somalia’s Deputy Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation minister Isaak Mohamud Mursal and the newly appointed United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Somalia Charles Leonard Mballa in Mogadishu.

The discussion centered on ways of improving humanitarian cooperation, particularly regarding the voluntary return of the refugees and ways to improve the returnees’ living standards and creating a favorable environment for their repatriation.

The move underscores Somalia’s dedication to partnering with the UNHCR to address key humanitarian issues and promote lasting solutions for displaced communities.
