GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Upper House of Parliament has approved a landmark bill on Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), paving the way for stronger protection and support for citizens uprooted by conflict, drought, and natural disasters.
The legislation, introduced by the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, creates a national framework for managing displacement and ensuring access to protection, assistance, and long-term solutions for affected communities.
Interior Minister Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh welcomed the approval, thanking senators for what he called a “historic step” toward safeguarding the dignity and rights of displaced Somalis.
