US confirms Two operations in southern Somalia, declines its forces were involved the one on 13th this month
The US State Department has confirmed a clandestine operations in Sakow, Middle Jubba in Somalia’s southern regions but said its forces were not involved in the second operation which took place on 13th August as reports emerge top Al-Shabaab leaders may have been killed in the Saturday operation.
BBC Somali service quoted a statement from the State Department Monday evening adding that US troops alongside Somali elite forces came under attack on 10th of this month on their way to operation on the outskirts of Sakow town but managed to repulse killing three ‘enemies’.
The statement also noted the US will release details of the operations later.
Sources in Sakow confirmed to Goobjoog News there were major military operations at the close of last week.
