Reports from Gedo region indicate that two Al-Shabab officials were killed in a suspected US drone attack while they were driving in car on the outskirt of Abaa-Halul village which lies between Bardere and Dinsor towns on Thursday.
Reliable sources indicate that the car and the two men on board completely burnt and they were not able to be identified.
The attack drew mixed speculations, with some sources saying Al-Shabab’s head of external operations, Aden Garaar, was travelling in the targeted car.
The federal government of Somalia and Al-Shabab organization have not yet commented on the drone attack.
Nobody claimed credit for the attack but as has been the case US government targets senior AL-Shabab officials and their military bases.
When a US drone so far killed Ahmed Godane and Yussef Dheeg who were believed be the backbone of the group but Al-Shabab has named Ahmad Umar as successor to former leader Ahmed Abdi Godane.
