US drone strike in Somalia kills several al-Shabaab fighters
The US military said in a statement that it has carried out a drone strike against al-Shabaab in Somalia that killed several extremists.
US Africa Command said the attack was carried out Tuesday evening about 96km northwest of the capital, Mogadishu through a collaboration with the Somali government.
The attack is the 28th aerial bombardment by US drones in Somalia within this year against Alshabab mostly in southern part of the country and ISIS affiliated group in Puntland, northeastern region.
Last week, such an attack took place in Gadud, about 250 miles southwest of the capital, Mogadishu.
Similarly National Intelligence Security Agency (NISA) said Saturday it has killed 81 Al-Shabaab militants in Jilib, Middle Juba.
Aerial bombardments by US drones and ground military operation between Somali and AMISOM military forces have been stepped up against Al-Shabab following the deadly infamous 14th October truck bomb attack in Mogadishu.
