Verdict on Somalia-Kenya sea case out next month-Somali Deputy PM
GOOBJOOG NEWS|HAGUE: The owner of the Indian Ocean triangle which has been subject to litigation at the International Court of Justice will be known next month, Somalia’s principal agent in the case has said.
Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Guled announced Monday the global Court will be delivering its verdict on October 12, 2021 ending the long running battle which has ruffled diplomatic relations between Kenya and Somalia for sometime now.
The case filed by Somalia in 2014 sought o determined the ownership of the triangular piece at the southern tip of the Indian Ocean which the two countries have bitterly contested.
Attempts by Kenya to seek an out of court settlement hit the brickwall after Somalia stood ground the matter can only be disposed of by the UN Court.
The ICJ is yet to announce publicly when it will deliver the ruling.
