Victims of SYL Terror Attack Flown to Turkiye for Treatment

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Close to 20 people among them members of parliament were this morning airlifted to Turkiye for further treatment after they sustained injuries during the terrorist attack on SYL on Friday.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and other senior government officials saw off the wounded at Aden Adde Airport in Mogadishu. This follows an offer by the Turkish government to treat the victims of the attack.

Health Minister Dr. Ali Haji said the 19 patients were accompanied by their relatives and will be treated in various hospitals in Ankara, Turkiye.

Among them are lawmakers from the two chambers of the Federal Parliament.

Al-Shabaab militants drove into the heavily fortified SYL Hotel on Friday evening and made their way into the hotel where they engaged security forces in overnight fire before they were felled down.
