We want to live peacefully with our neighbours, says Puntland president
President of semi-autonomous regional state of Puntland, Abdiwali Mohamed said that Puntland is ready for peaceful reconciliation and dialogue to end any standoff.
He accused Galmudug state of being responsible for what happened in Galkaayo town saying that his forces only responded to attacks from Galmudug soldiers.
“We are welcoming any attempt to restore peace in Galkaayo and we are not targeting anybody” he said.
Hundreds of residents fled from their homes during Sunday’s clashes which claimed lives of eleven innocent civilians and injured fifty others.
Despite unpredictable ceasefire deal by traditional elders, the two warring sides seem to be dashing hopes of peace as the two sides continue to mobile forces for a potential new fighting.
Somali Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Sharmarke flew to Garowe after a short visit to Adado town, the headquarters of Galmudug state where he held meetings with the sides.
