Woman Accused of Murder Executed in Puntland

GOOBJOOG NEWS| A woman accused of murdering a young girl was executed on Tuesday after a court in Puntland found her guilty following a months-long trial, authorities said.

The death sentence was implemented at the courthouse in Galkayo, in the presence of Puntland administration officials, security personnel, and members of the public.

Court officials said Diiriye was found guilty of murder after a prolonged trial process, noting that all legal requirements were observed. These included the presentation and verification of evidence, as well as the exhaustion of appeal procedures.

Puntland authorities said the enforcement of the sentence was intended to underscore the administration’s stance against crimes targeting children, emphasizing that individuals responsible for serious offenses would be held fully accountable under the law.
