Daring woman who refused Al-Shabaab’s use of her house to launch attacks rewarded $10k

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: A woman who refused Al-Shabaab’s demand to use her house as a launching pad for bomb attacks against government soldiers at a junction in Kahda district in Mogadishu has received a $10,000 reward from Prime Minister Hamze Barre.

The PM presented the amount to the woman identified as Mama Farhiyo who has been hailed for her bravery during a function in the district. The woman is reported to have refused the militants from hiding in her house to carry out the attacks.

The PM also directed the local government there to repair the house of the woman which was destroyed after the militants failed to secure the place. All those who were injured will also be treated on government charge, the PM said.
