Storyline:National News

Galmudug state assembly has been paralysed following the absence of the speaker and his deputies who have been overseas for two months now.

Mohamed Hassan Hussein, member of Galmudug Assembly who spoke Goobjoog News said that the absenteeism of the parliamentary leadership has derailed the proceedings of the second session of the house.

“This is a violation of the laws of the state and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia and international law. The work of the parliament has been halted for two months due lack of the parliamentary speaker,” said Hussein.

He accused the speaker and his deputies of failure to execute their duties.

But the speaker Ali Ga’al Asir Monday defended his position citing difficult working conditions which have made it difficult for him to function.

“As you may know Parliament has been working under tough conditions since its inception and these conditions have negatively impacted the assembly to work smoothly,” Asir told the media in Uganda.

Galmudug Assembly was born out of state formation conference held in Adado town mid last year.
