70 Al-Shabaab fighters, including 3 foreigners killed in Bahdo- Galmudug President

GOOBJOOG NEWS|DHUSAMAREB: Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoor Qoor has commended the security forces, the administration and the people of Bahdo for staging a tough defense against Al-Shabaab who attacked the town on Friday morning.

In a statement, the Galmudug Head of State hailed the “defeat” of the terrorist group as “historic,” adding that the courage shown by the people of Bahdo was worth emulation by the people of Galmudug and the Somali people in general.

The statement added that the fighting left at least 70 Al-Shabaab militants dead, including 3 foreigners. Several weapons, ammunition, and a vehicle laden with explosives were also recovered from the group.

The Galmudug administration confirmed that after the attack, its armed forces went in hot pursuit of the remaining Al-Shabaab fighters who escaped yesterday’s fighting.

The statement by the  Galmudug President  came hours after President Mohamud also issued a statement praising the people of Bahdo for their exemplary courage, saying they had taught the terrorist group “an unforgettable lesson”.

“People of Bahdo, this morning you have taught an unforgettable lesson to the terrorists who attacked you. You have sent a message of courage that the days of terrorists hiding in our country are coming to an end,” said President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

The two leaders prayed for the speedy recovery of the wounded and wished yesterday’s martyrs a special place in Paradise.
