A former commissioner killed in Beledweyne town
Armed men with pistols last night killed a well known sheikh in Beleweyne town who is believed to have been a onetime commissioner of Bulo Burde town in Hiran region.
The deceased Sheikh Abd Iidow Warsame was on his out of a local mosque after praying the night time obligatory prayer for Muslims.
The attackers immediately ran away from the scene and no arrest of suspects has been reported in connection with the murder incident.
Local administration of Beledweyne and the police department have not yet released official information on the killing.
Early January federal security forces arrested two suspects in Bula Burde, Hiran region following a mine attack that claimed the life of an Amisom solider from Djibouti and injured two others near the local airstrip. The explosion assumed to be an improvised explosive device (IED) was planted along the road linking the town to the local airstrip.
Bulo Burde is 108 km southeast of Beledweyne town and is situated along the Shabelle River being the second largest town in Hiran after the provincial capital Beledweyne.
