With only five days remaining before Jubbland state presidential elections, a new candidate, Hilowle Adan Mohamed a former Somali parliament member has joined the race for the state presidency.
Mohamed announced his candidacy before a crowd of supporters in Kismayo, the capital administrative of Interim Jubba Administration.
“Today the 10th of August, 2015, I want to declare my intention to run for Jubbland State’s presidential elections” he said.
He added the current shape of Jubbaland gave him the courage to come forward and declare his candidacy.
Hilowle promised to give priority, if elected to security, economy and upgrading of State army facilities.
Ahmed Modobe, the current Jubbland interim president has so far been the only candidate in the race poised for a win but Hilowe’s entry could change the tide though observers see his entry as a ploy to convince people the process was democratic.
