Afgoye administration conduct security operations in the town
Somali government forces lead by the administration of Afgoye district have early Saturday launched security operations in a number of suburbs in Afgooye town following Al-Shabaab’s attack on town located southwest of the Somali capital, Mogadishu, officials said.
The soldiers have nabbed several suspected people of being members of Al-Shabab militants.
Sources in Afgooye have confirmed the operations conducted by the soldiers saying that the forces arrested over ten suspected people as investigations are underway.
Mohamed Ibrahim Bare Afgoye regional governor told Goobjoog News that the government forces have carried out operations and arrested several suspected members of Al-Shabaab members.
The security of town has been deteriorated recently after several civilians and government soldiers were gunned down in hands suspected of Al-Shabab members.
Afgoye is an agricultural and strategic town located only 30 kilometres southwest of the Somali capital Mogadishu, which was once under Al-Shabaab control.
