Armed Men Open Fire, Kill Driver At a Checkpoint in Hiiraan Region

GOOBJOOG NEWS|HIIRAAN: Armed men opened fire on a vehicle at a checkpoint killing the driver on the spot in Hiiraan region.

Eye witnesesses said the driver, identified as Sakariye Ali Ara, known to operate between Mogadishu and the central regions was killed at a checkpoint in Moqokori in Hiiraan region Thursday morning.

The circumstances surrounding the killing of the driver were still not clear but sources said the armed men who were reportedly manning the checkpoint opened fire on the vehicle as it approached the checkpoint.

There was no immediate comment from authorities.
