Army commander optimistic on war against Al-shabaab

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MIDDLE SHABELLE: The commander of the Armed forces General Odowaa Yusuf Raage has expressed optimism that his forces will win the ongoing war against the Al-Shabaab militants.

Speaking when he visited the 4^th Batallion, 27^th Division of the Armed Forces in El-Ali Ahmed area of Middle Shabelle region, General Raage said the next phase of the war against the militants will soon begin in Hirshabelle and Galmuudug areas.

Somali Government forces who are closely collaborating with locals in the areas are conducting targeted operations against the Al-Shabaab in the central region of the country especially Hiran and Galgaduud areas which still faces security challenges posed by the militants.

General Raage added that so far success has been witnessed in the area with the militants withdrawing from some of areas in the regions. He added that over the past few days, his forces have managed to liberate some areas in Eldheer district and that the government forces are now pushing to retake Dirri and Washbo areas of Elbur district.
