AU to Train Somali Traffic Police Officers on Road Safety
The African Union (AU) mission to Somalia will launch a training program for traffic police officers in the main cities of that country, the regional bloc reported today.
The plan is part of the activities foreseen in the transferring process of responsibilities from the AU team to the Somali troops, detailed the text issued by the Commission of the entity, headquartered in this capital.
At the same time, an awareness-raising campaign on road safety will be launched, with a view to guaranteeing the protection of citizens against accidents and other criminal acts arising from the increase in pedestrian and car traffic.
The Mission will strengthen the deployment of police forces in the main avenues in order to ensure the stability of this African nation.
The agency urged the involved actors to work closely with community members not only to help strengthen the rule of law but also to promote peace and security for the population.
