Auditor General tables annual financial report
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal Government of Somalia’s Auditor General Thursday presented the 2022 annual financial report to Council of Ministers which shows the government’s fiscal performance.
The report shows the government’s revenue and expenditure, audit findings and recommendations and also compliance with the budget law and other financial regulations.
This is the first official audit report presented to the government officials since 2017, when the last audit report was made. Since then, no audit report has been made due to various reasons, including security issues, lack of resources, and political instability.
The Auditor General said that the report aims to enhance transparency and accountability in the public sector, and to provide reliable and useful information to the stakeholders and the public.
He also said that the report identifies some areas that need improvement, such as revenue collection, budget execution, internal control, and financial reporting.
Prime Minister of Somalia Hamza Abdi Bare said the government is committed to implementing the audit recommendations and improving its financial management.
The report will be submitted to the Parliament for further review and discussion. It will also be published on the website of the Auditor General’s Office for public access.
