Barre Holds Key Meeting With Iraqi PM in Baghdad

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre who led a high-level delegation of Somali dignitaries arrived in Baghdad Thursday for an official visit.

The Prime Minister held a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani where they discussed ways of strengthening the two countries’ relations and cooperation in various sectors.

The discussion focused on enhancing the longstanding bilateral ties between the two states and key areas of cooperation, including the economy, security, and other common interests.

According a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister, Barre seeks to explore opportunities for economic collaboration between the two nations and also discuss the need for joint efforts in maintaining stability in the region.

The Somali delegation includes Minister of Finance Bihi Iman and Intelligence Director Abdullahi Mohamed Ali.
