Breaking News: Galmudug State Gets First Elected President
Abdikarim Hussien Guled a former security minister of federal Government and close ally to Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud has become the president of one year long struggle Galmudug product.
In the first round 6 candidates entered the election but he and two other candidates qualified for the second round; Ahmad Abdisalm who was in the third position for first round get knocked out in the second lap.
In the third round he and Abdihakim Haji Fiqi contested but he finally defeated his challenger in 49 VS 40 votes of 89 votes in total.
The election of Abdikarim Guleed, being the first president of means that the process of federalization in the country is performing very well.
The newly elected president has to do a lot , the first challenge being dealing with Somali moderate Islamist, Ahlu-Sunna Waljam’a which withdrew Adado state formation conference.
The group publicised that it has nominated president for areas under its rule whereby Somali central state formation conference spearheaded by Somali government, is progressing towards its final stages.
On 10th last month, Somali moderate Islamist group, Ahlu-Sunna Waljamaa, had declared that its delegates would vacate the conference in less than 24 hours.
Speaking to Goobjoog News, its leader Sheikh Ibrahim Gurre, who was among the signatories to Somali central State formation conference put blame on Somali minister for internal affairs, Abdirahman Odawaa.
“The internal minister is a naive young boy who is new in the political arena so i have no answer for him” he said.
He added that they do not recognize the government “this government is not representing us”
