Cabinet Appoints Abdullahi Mohamed Ali as Head of NISA
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal Government of Somalia’s Cabinet Thursday appointed Abdullahi Mohamed Ali as the new Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), replacing Mahad Mohamed Salad who has been leading the spy agency since May 2022.
Ali, who will now be heading the spy agency for the third time comes with a wealth of experience having served as Security Minister, Member of Parliament and Somalia’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
Mahad Salad thanked President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud for giving him the opportunity to serve the Somali people as the head of NISA.
The outgoing NISA director also thanked Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre and the Council of Ministers and Members of both Houses for their support as he undertook his role in the position, and wished the incoming director well.
“I congratulate the new Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency, Mr. Abdullahi Mohamed Ali who has once again been appointed to head NISA Agency,” Salad said in an official statement
Salad further stated NISA’s commitment to serve the Somali people with the highest level of integrity and commitment and paid tribute to the agents and officers of the Agency who worked him during his tenure.
“We served the Somali community in the highest capacity we could. It is worth noting that the backbone of that hard work was the officers and employees of the Agency who supported me. I say thank you to all of you.”
