Calm returns in Amara after deadly clash, SNA says it killed 90 militants
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MUDUG: Calm has returned to Amara locality in Mudug region following 48 hours of heavy fighting between the Somali National Army and the militant group Al-Shabaab.
SNA said it killed 90 militants in the fighting that saw both sides exchange heavy fire for several hours. SNA also said it lost five soldiers in the fighting.
Al-Shabaab however displayed military vehicles including pickup vehicles and trucks.
Heavy fighting between the two sides broke out on Tuesday in a continuing series of battles between government and Al-Shabaab forces in Mudug region.
U.S Africa command AFRICOM fired a drone strike against Al-Shabaab during the fighting but there was no initial report on the casualties.
