GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Chinese government has donated $1 million to aid people affected by floods due to the El-Nino rains across Somalia.

Somali National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) Commissioner Mohamud Maallim Abdulle received the donation from Chinese Ambassador Fei Shengchao on Tuesday and said the funds will be used to alleviate the plight of vulnerable communities suffering from the devastating effects of floods.

He noted that the donation will specifically be used to transport food aid soon to be delivered by China to remote areas within Somalia.

This, he said will ensure equitable distribution of life-saving supplies to communities facing food insecurity, malnutrition, and displacement due to the prolonged drought.
