China to continue supporting Somalia’s development projects

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: China has promised to continue to support the Federal Government of Somalia’s development projects.

Speaking in Mogadishu while meeting with Prime Minister Hamze Abdi Barre, the Chinese ambassador to Somalia Fei Shengchao said Somalia is a strategic friend of China.

Prime Minister Barre said the two countries will strengthen cooperation in security, economy, politics, and humanitarian issues.

The Prime Minister further thanked the Chinese government for standing with the people of Somalia through the various challenges the country has faced over the years.

Ambassador Shengchao reiterated China’s commitment to support Somalia’s reconstruction and socioeconomic development and also to collaborate in other sectors such as agriculture, fishery, and health.

China has supported Somalia in its fight against terrorism and in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity and also supports the African Union which is spearheading efforts to restore peace in Somalia.
