Dangerous Journeys: 22 more Somalis arrested in S.Sudan arrive in Mogadishu

Twenty two Somalis who were arrested in South Sudan heading to Europe were today brought back to the country adding to more than 30 others who have arrived in the country from dangerous journeys to Europe.

Somali ambassador to South Sudan Hussein Haji Mohamud told Goobjoog News the returnees had been arrested in three locations in South Sudan as they attempted to head north.

“They were arrested in three different places and kept in a detention centre in the border between South Sudan and Sudan,” Mohamud said.

The envoy added two of the migrants went to Ethiopia while another one, a female remained in the capital of South Sudan, Jubba while another one stayed in Kenya.

Somali government in collaboration with International Organisation of Migration (IOM) and the UN refugee agency UNHCR have so far repatriated 37 Somalis from Libya jails since the beginning of the year.
