Displaced families in Gedo region demand for humanitarian emergency aid
More 100 families have displaced from their homes following a deadly clash between Ethiopian troops who are part of the AMISOM mission in Somalia and Al-Shabaab militants at bulla Bashir under Luuq district of Gedo region.
The fighting erupted after the Ethiopian troops that were on their way to Baidoa town were ambushed by Al-Shabaab militias in the area.
Adan Ismail the chairman of the IDP camp told Goobjoog News that at least 170 families have displaced from the fight at Bulla Bashir and only 60 families have reached Luuq town for a better settlement.
The families are demanding for humanitarian emergency help from the government and the international humanitarian agencies in the county to provide assistance in protecting their lives.
The head of the camp called on the local administration of Gedo and Luuq district for an immediate response and assist the families.
