Educatin ministry announces National Examinations results

The results of the National Examinations results for 2015 have been released on Thursday with 12.7% of candidates failed to attain the required minimum grade.
There has been anxiety as candidates and parents wait for the release of the Form four examination results.

Somali minister for Education, Abdikadir Abdi Hashi has said despite a few challenges witnessed during the administration of the examination, credibility of the tests was not affected.

A total of 11574 sat their secondary exams last year and it  is more than the previous exam which recorded about 7,000 students. Imaam Shaafihi in Hodan district recorded the highest number of candidates last year at 326.

Speaking during the official release of results, Hashi  said the government is committed to ensure no candidate is barred from taking national examinations due to lack chance.

Hashi said there was an increase in enrollment for national exams as a result of government’s effort to increase the number of candidates.

The government is working towards streamlining the education system and centralising exams to avoid students carrying different certificates. However, umbrellas have been reluctant to let go of their function to administer exams noting it had been filling the gap for over two decades and should be allowed to continue.

Umbrellas are still fully in charge of private schools exams.

This is the second centralized examination released in which the federal government administered for students who completed secondary schools in Somalia since 1991.
